YE
OLDE BELL & STEELYARD WOODBRIDGE
SECOND
ANNUAL BEER & CHEESE FESTIVAL
Friday
30th July - Monday 2nd August
Following
the success of last year’s inaugural Beer and Cheese Festival, the
heart of Woodbridge is the setting for another 4 days of fun, food and
fine ale at Ye Olde Bell & Steelyard in New Street. The festival
which has now become an annual event will run from lunchtime on Friday
30th July right through the weekend finishing on Monday 2nd August.
Visitors to the festival will be encouraged to sample not only a fine
selection of Real Ales but a range of different cheeses and cheese
dishes predominantly from Suffolk but also from further afield. In charge
of organising the whole event are husband and wife licensees of Ye Olde
Bell and Steelyard, Siggi and Adrian Batstone. The couple took over the
16th Century Inn a couple of years ago. Siggi said ‘Beer and Cheese
complement each other perfectly so it made sense to have them both at
the event’. People will have the chance to try a great selection of
beers including; Sundance, LBW, and Olde Trip along with at least two
surprise guest ales. For guests who feel peckish there will be special
‘Beer Drinkers Cheese Platters’ on the menu and on the Saturday
there’s a ‘sausage sizzle’ in the garden (weather permitting).
Siggi and
Adrian also invite visitors to participate in a range of traditional pub
games including bar billiards, bar skittles, cribbage, darts, polka dice
and shove ha’penny. There will be live music on Friday evening with
Rich T making their first appearance and on Saturday night with Idriss
Ibrahim also making his debut at this popular music pub. Sunday
lunchtime sees a relaxed jazz session with the fabulous Barry Kingston
Trio where guests can enjoy traditional Sunday lunch or something from
the regular menu. Alternatively, guests are welcome to just come and
chill with a pint or two of their favourite tipple. In addition there
may well be a number of local musicians making adhoc appearances to
entertain the guests throughout the weekendInside the recently
re-furbished, beautiful timber framed building on New Street in
Woodbridge which dates back to 1540, and hosts live music each weekend,
you’ll find a warm and friendly welcome and a reasonably priced menu
with some traditional pub food favourites mixed with dishes from Germany
and across the continent for the more adventurous palette. For
directions to the 2nd Annual Beer & Cheese Festival from Friday 30th
July – Monday 2nd August log onto www.yeoldebellandsteelyard.co.uk

THE
BIG SUMMER DE-CLUTTER FOR
BBC
RADIO SUFFOLK’S TREEHOUSE APPEAL
We
all have junk that we think is only worthy of the dump. Well here’s
your chance to have a big summer clear out and at the same time help to
raise funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices Treehouse Appeal.
Sunday
August 8th will see the whole of
Suffolk taking part in a massive de-clutter with a series of car boot
sales across the county- the focal point being a huge family event and
monster car boot sale at the Trinity Park Showground in Ipswich.
This major BBC
Radio Suffolk event is part of the ongoing efforts to raise £3 million
for a new children’s hospice for EACH and hopes to involve every car
booter and bargain hunter in Suffolk.
The
idea was the brainchild of the James Hazell show when producer Sally
Burch got fed up of the junk that was accumulating in her garage. Together with presenter James Hazell, they joined forces with
the staff at Trinity Park, car boot sale organisers Shandale and the
EACH fundraising office to formulate the Big Summer De-Clutter.
James said: “This is a win, win situation. Guests on the show are
always telling us people need to de-clutter.
Well we can all do just that - and make a substantial
contribution to the fantastic Treehouse Appeal at the same time. It will
also stop Sal whingeing about the state of her garage!”
Sal
added: “The Big Summer De-Clutter is the perfect solution to all those
hidden treasures that have been locked away in the loft or garage
gathering dust.”
The
Big Summer De-Clutter will run from 7am until 3pm on August 8 at Trinity
Park Showground in Ipswich.
Patsy
Johnson, EACH capital appeal fundraiser, said: “The Big Summer
De-Clutter is a great concept which will raise funds, bring people
together and raise the profile of the EACH Treehouse Appeal across the
region.”
A
total of 500 pitches are available at a cost of £10 each, which will go
directly to the Treehouse Appeal, and can be booked by contacting Patsy:
01473 276115
Even
if you don’t have a stall at the event you can still do your bit to
support the appeal by donating your unwanted items to EACH, which can be
sold in EACH shops or recycled to raise funds.
The
de-clutter event will also host a family funday- so there will be
something for everyone- entry- Adults £1, children free.
